Dragged into a palace of horrors because someone else used her name as a shield, Hanna has lost everything — her family, her home, her freedom. Now she sits wrapped in a blanket that doesn’t really protect her but feels like it might.

She’s afraid, but she’s trying. She clutches her little meal in shaking hands and takes her first bite because sometimes that’s all you can do: find something warm, hold it tight, and face the horror one tiny piece at a time.

Breaking Out is a story about survival when there’s no real safety left — and how sometimes you cope with blankets and cheese cubes and the choice to live just a little longer.
